How renewals work

Before each due date we raise a renewal invoice and email it to you, with reminders before and after the date. Hosting renews at the renewal price printed next to each plan, which is the 1-month price and never anything higher. You can choose a longer term when you renew, and our hosting deals on longer terms show what that saves.

PlanFirst term, 12 monthsRenews at
Web hosting: Launch₹99/mo₹129/mo
Web hosting: Orbit₹189/mo₹249/mo
Web hosting: Galaxy₹339/mo₹449/mo

VPS: VC-2, billed yearly₹719/mo₹719/mo

Every current price is on the pricing page. Pay from the invoice email or in the client area under BillingMy Invoices with UPI, RuPay, Visa, Mastercard, net banking or a wallet.

To pay automatically, save a card or set up a UPI mandate in the client area, where your bank and the payment gateway support it; renewals are then charged on the due date. GST invoices and payment methods are covered in Billing, GST invoices and payment methods.

Domains

Open Domainsyourdomain.inAuto Renew and enable or disable it. Either way, we email reminders before the expiry date. To add years early, use DomainsRenew Domains; the time is added to the current expiry.

Hosting, VPS and servers

These renew until you tell us to stop. There's no switch to flip: to end a service on its renewal date, request cancellation at the End of Billing Period (see Cancel a service).

If a .com, .in or other common domain does expire, it can still be renewed at the normal price for up to 30 days. After that it enters redemption for about 30 days, where getting it back costs a restore fee (₹6,999 for .com and other generic extensions, ₹4,999 for the .in family) plus the renewal. Then it's released and anyone can register it.

Upgrade or downgrade a plan

Open Servicesyour serviceUpgrade/Downgrade, pick the new plan and check the amount due today before you confirm.

  • Upgrades take effect straight away. You pay only the prorated difference for the rest of your current term, and your files, email and settings stay where they are.
  • Downgrades apply from your next renewal, as long as your usage fits the smaller plan's disk, site and mailbox limits.

Worked example: Orbit to Galaxy with 6 months left. On a 12-month term the two plans cost ₹189 and ₹339 a month. You pay (₹339 − ₹189) × 6 = ₹900, plus ₹162 GST, so ₹1,062 today. At renewal, Galaxy renews at ₹449 a month.

Cancel a service

  1. Take your data with you

Download a full backup, export databases and copy any mail you want to keep. Download a full account backup shows how for cPanel. On a VPS, copy what you need off the server: its snapshots and backups are deleted with it. Cancelling a reseller plan removes every client account under it, so move your clients first.

  2. Request cancellation

Open Servicesyour serviceRequest Cancellation, choose when it should end, add a short reason and submit.

End of Billing Period is the safe default: the service runs until the date you've paid for.
  3. Domains work differently

A domain has no cancel button: turn Auto Renew off and it stays yours until its expiry date. To keep it but leave us, transfer it away instead. The service delivery policy has the full rules.

What happens to your data

StageWhat happens
Suspended (unpaid invoice)The service stops but nothing is deleted. It comes back as soon as the invoice is paid.
Terminated (cancelled, or left unpaid)The service is removed. Its data is kept for 7 days, and we can restore it if you ask (an unpaid service needs the invoice paid first).
7 days after terminationFiles, databases, mail and backups are erased permanently.

After those 7 days, nothing can be recovered. Not by you and not by us. Download everything you need before the termination date.

Separately from your content, subscriber records for VPS and dedicated servers are kept for 5 years after the service ends, as the CERT-In Directions of 28 April 2022 require. The privacy policy lists every retention period.

Refunds after cancelling hosting

ProductMoney-back window
Web, WordPress and reseller hosting, business email30 days
VPS (licences excluded)7 days
Dedicated servers, domains, SSL certificates, software licences, setup feesNot refundable

If a free domain came with your hosting, its first-year price is deducted from the refund. Refunds aren't automatic: request an Immediate cancellation inside the window, then email billing@virtualcloud.in from your account's address with the invoice number. The refund policy has the full terms.

Troubleshooting

I got a renewal invoice after cancelling

The invoice was probably raised before your request. Don't pay it: reply to the invoice email or write to billing@ and we'll cancel it.

There's no Upgrade/Downgrade option

Either the service has an unpaid invoice (pay it first), or it's a product we change by hand, such as a dedicated server or a custom VPS. Open a ticket with the plan you want.

The renewal costs more than I paid at first

Your first term was at the discounted multi-month price. Renewals are at the renewal price shown next to every plan, which for hosting is the 1-month price. Both prices are on the pricing page.

My domain has expired

Renew it now from DomainsRenew Domains: for most extensions, it renews at the normal price for up to 30 days after expiry. Later than that, open a ticket and we'll quote the restore.

I cancelled the wrong service

Open a ticket straight away, naming the service. Before termination we can simply withdraw the request; after it, data can only be recovered within the 7-day window.
