Companies and LLPs
A Pvt Ltd, OPC or LLP whose name reads naturally with .co.in, much like "& Co." on a letterhead.
A .co.in costs ₹399 for the first year and renews at ₹599, + GST, the lowest renewal of the three names most Indian businesses weigh up. The "co" says commercial, and anyone can register one.
Owning yourbrand for 5 years
First year plus four renewals, excluding 18% GST.
The "co" stands for commercial, the same idea as .co.uk. Visitors read it as a company rather than a person or a charity, and it costs less to keep than either .in or .com.
A Pvt Ltd, OPC or LLP whose name reads naturally with .co.in, much like "& Co." on a letterhead.
A short, clean .co.in usually beats a long or hyphenated .in, and renews for ₹200 a year less.
Retailers, restaurants, coaching centres and service firms whose customers are all in India.
Businesses that already own the .in or .com and want the .co.in so nobody else can trade on it.
All three work identically for websites, email and SSL certificates. The differences are in what they cost over time, which rules apply and what the ending tells a visitor.

Restore fees are added to the renewal. Totals are the first year plus renewals. Weighing up all three? Read .in or .com: choosing a domain for an Indian business, or see prices for all 29 extensions.
Owning one doesn't stop anyone registering the other. If a competitor or a domain trader takes yourbrand.in while you build on yourbrand.co.in, the people who type the shorter name, and the emails sent to it, reach them instead. The pair costs ₹898 in the first year and ₹1,398 a year after that, + GST. Already taken? A WHOIS lookup shows who holds it and when it expires.
.co.in sits under the .in country code, so NIXI's .IN Registry sets the rules. Most catch people out not at registration but years later, when a renewal notice goes to someone who has left.
Despite the commercial label, no incorporation certificate, GST number or Indian address is needed. Sole proprietors and people outside India qualify too.
Put the company's legal name in the organisation field and keep the domain in an account the company controls, not a developer's or agency's.
Contact details must be accurate: update them within 7 days of a change and answer any accuracy check within 15 days, or the name can be suspended.
A shared registrant email such as domains@ on another domain keeps renewal and transfer notices reaching the company when people move on.
A new .co.in stays with its first registrar for 60 days. After that it can move with its auth code; a transfer here costs ₹599 and adds a year.
Like every .in-family name, a .co.in can't have WHOIS privacy, another reason to register it to the business address rather than a home.
Order a web or WordPress hosting plan on a 12, 24 or 36-month term and choose .co.in as its free domain. Year one costs nothing; from year two it renews at ₹599, the lowest renewal of the three free extensions. If the hosting is refunded, ₹399 is deducted from the refund. Offer details
Lowest prices are on 36-month terms, + 18% GST.

Technically they're identical: same registry, same rules, same support for email and SSL. The difference is length and habit. People find .in quicker to say and type, so when both are free many businesses make the .in the main address and keep the .co.in to protect it. The .in domain page covers the shorter option.
No. NIXI lets anyone register a .co.in, including sole proprietors, freelancers, partnerships and people outside India. No incorporation certificate or GST number is asked for; the contact details just have to be accurate.
Some will. .co is Colombia's extension and .com is a different name altogether, so mail sent to either goes elsewhere. Say the full address when you share it, print it clearly, and consider owning the .com version too (₹899 for the first year) and forwarding it to your site.
Yes. Register the .in if it's available, point it at the same hosting, make it the main address and 301-redirect the .co.in to it so links and search rankings carry over. Keep renewing the .co.in afterwards so old emails, invoices and printed material still reach you.
You have up to 30 days' grace to renew at the normal ₹599. After that the name enters redemption, where restoring it costs the ₹4,999 restore fee plus the renewal. If it isn't restored, the registry deletes it and anyone can register it. See the recovery timeline.
Yes. A .co.in takes any MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, so every email provider works. Add the records they give you in our free DNS manager, or use our business email from ₹49 a mailbox. How to set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
₹599 + GST, which includes a year added to your current expiry date. The domain must be at least 60 days past its registration or its last transfer. Start a domain transfer.
Search shows the first-year and renewal price side by side, with the .in and .com versions of the name next to it.
